Sven enjoyed playing his guitar so much he wanted to learn how to build one. He found Luthiers International and applied to attend there. The rigorous program he participated in began to prepare him for the stringed instrument repair world. Upon graduation the school and adjoining shop hired him as first repairman/guitar technician for the “Fret Shop” in Snellville Georgia. After employment there Sven set his sites back on Asheville NC. He found a job as a Luthier/repairman at “Smashing Guitars” there, providing setups and aesthetic repairs for customers there as well as furthering his interest and skills in inlay. Now with six intensive years of repair under his belt he sets out to build his own customer base and provide a new kind of stringed instrument service to all. Sven still enjoys playing his guitar and hosts an open mic night at The Hookah Bar on North French Broad on Wednesday nights in downtown Asheville. “Sven Hooson did an amazing job in helping me put together and design my first Ether-wave theremin. I saw a sample of his inlay work and took advantage of his talent and received a finely detailed piece, it was worth the wait. The “flower of life image” I wanted, was very accurately rendered in mother of pearl into the casing of the Ether-wave. Being that I live in Asheville and have had Moog involved in the creation of my instrument upon showing them my finished product, everyone who has seen it has been impressed. I am so very happy to have a custom made instrument to help me pursue my dream of mastering the theremin."
